Thanksgiving Parade

Picture 2

Below is a letter from Scott Swimmer, the founder of Drumstrong (www.drumstrong.org). Drumstrong is an wonderful foundation that raises money for many different cancer organizations. They offered us their amazing drumming talent during our Walk-A-Thon this fall. Scott is looking for Camp CARE patients and siblings to ride on their Thanksgiving Float next Thursday. Thanks so Scott for including Camp CARE in the parade.

Please contact Scott at scott@drumstrong.org if you are interested in having your child(ren) participate. We would love to see lots of Camp CARE friends at the parade.

Here is his letter:

Dear Friends,

We will roll out the lively DrumsForCures :: drumSTRONG Float for the Carolinas’ Carrousel Thanksgiving Day Parade with kids, drummers and dancers to express our support of ‘BEATing’ cancer. We invite survivors and supporters of ALL ages (but the float is for the kids)!

Thursday morning (8:00 am), 11-26-09, We will park the drumSTRONG Float on Phifer St. and Tryon which is actually BETWEEN 9th & 10th Streets next to the

‘Rustic Martini’. People can park in the Hal Marshall Building parking lot right next door (btwn 10th & 11th) or drop people off there. The parade ENDS @ Marshall Park on 3rd & Davidson. There’s lots of parking down there. We will try to have some folks shuttle the drivers who park in one place or the other.

The Parade starts @ 9:30 am. PLEASE be there no later than 8:45 so we can get established, in position and warmed up. We are float #12, so right up front!

We will have plenty of adult care on board so unless a parent really needs to sit with their child on the float, please leave room for more kids by walking beside the float and percussing with us. We’ll also need folks to hand out fliers and candy…

We encourage the people ‘On Board’ to be as friendly and active as possible (wave/drum/sing) and just have a great time! Street walkers/dancers will shake, rattle and/or roll some sort of percussion instrument that we will provide (bring your own if you have em)!

When we get to the Square (Trade & Tryon) we will pause and do a special little number for the WBTV cameras and wave BIG to lovely Tonia & Paul!

Check the weather. Make sure to bring a sweatshirt and we want everybody to be wearing drumSTRONG shirts on top. Let me know if you need one. Drummers and walkers should wear black (red or yellow) pants or jeans.

Please let me know if you will be joining us.

thanksGIVING!!!

FunFunFun,
Scott
