Our site and t-shirt storefront is finally live. Wanted to pass along the link(s) so you can check the out the site, view the shirt designs, visit our ‘friend’s page and view the videos (also can be viewed via YouTube).

Part of our proceeds goes to Camp CARE (campcare.org) – a free summer camp for children 3-17 who have cancer or are survivors. Our only request is to help spread the word about ‘Active Bum’ through your network of friends (e-mail), ‘Like’ a shirt or video via Facebook or Twitter, or ‘Like’ us on our Active Bum Facebook page. Buying a shirt or hat also helps…;-D.

We will gradually add new shirt designs in the upcoming year and we’re open to your feedback, suggestions, and requests. Also, watch out for future “Active Bum Presents” videos – at least one a quarter.

Transactions For Charity is yet another of these awesome groups.

Do you have a business that runs credit card transactions? Do you know someone else that does?  This may be a great way for you to save money AND help Camp CARE.

Transactions for Charity uses the power of a business’ credit card processing to generate donations to a local charity of the business owner’s choice.  However, if anyone from the Camp Care organization refers a business that uses TFC, the donations resulting from their credit card processing will be automatically directed to Camp Care.  Your donations will consist of an upfront $50 donation for every new merchant as well as an ongoing donation in the amount of 10% of the monthly profit from each merchant’s processing fees.  Since Transactions for Charity provides a turnkey fundraising solution, the referral is all that is required from Camp Care.

For example, if someone from Camp Care refers TFC to their dental office and they sign up with TFC, Camp Care gets $50, plus ongoing donations (paid quarterly) based on their monthly profit.  If this office ran $50k in credit cards each month, you could expect around $10/mo for as long as they continued to process through us.  If another company ran about $1M each month, you could expect about $100/mo from that.  This is great for everyone involved.

If you already have a contract with another company for credit card transactions, it still might be worth it to have TFC run a free report for you and see if they can get you a better deal. Many local companies and non-profits are now using them because their rates are so good AND they give back to local charities.

Camp CARE 2012

Monday, June 25th-Saturday, June 30th.

For those of you that are new to Camp CARE, this is our big camp up at Lake Lure. It is for oncology patients treated at Levine Children’s Hospital and Hemby Children’s Hospital (Presbyterian) who are ages 6-17. Each patient may bring one sibling, ages 8-17. Application will go out in the spring.  If you click on the photos page of our website, you can see how much fun we have at camp each summer.

In addition, Our annual holiday party at the Embassy Suites will be on Sunday, December 11th, 2011.  More information to come about this fun event, but save it on your calendar.  It typically begins shortly after lunch.

If you can not make the one on October 5th (see post below), here is another option for you.

The 5K is almost here! Next week, September 10th is the big day!!

This is our largest fundraiser of the year and we really need everyone’s participation to make it work.

This year, we would LOVE to have the families of our campers participate in the event to help cheer on runners, hand out awards and possibly even sing some camp songs.

In addition, we really need as many people (staff and fans of camp) as possible to sign up to run, raise money or volunteer at the event.

Even if you cannot be there the day of the raise, you can still go to our website at www.campcare.org and click on the donate box. Every little bit helps. If you choose this option, would you please put “5K’ in the box that says “In honor of” so we know that your contribution was towards this event.
